Majeed The road is often used as a construction material dump yard by the adjoining builders. Many a times trucks with materials are parked with unloading happening. Very dangerous for school children and pedstrians. Drastic action required by GHMC officials and local police to get the road cleared and impose fines for those violating same.

VidyanathK This is a very valid suggestion and needs to be taken seriously. In fact we can structure the pay as base and variable. We can extend it easily to say there should also be a forum for public feedback and public evaluation on each project and hence even performance linked bonuses.

Mrunal Yes, its a hugely complex task. I was thinking about it some days before. Not in terms of salary but in terms of complexity. Managing so many diverse interests and so much of varied population, is a huge affair. And I believe this will also curb corruption to certain extent.

Except for 10H and 11[which comes rarely] there is no other means to reach hitech.. and the local cabs and autowala's are exploiting the situations and are charing huge fare's
if RTC cannot do it.. atleast the Setwin guys should concentrate on this route.. which has huge potential to generate revenue ?

On a serious note, if I am not wrong Mr. Manmohan Singh has assured an inquiry to be started once the games get over. Now, when will that conclude and bring perpetrators to the justice is a separate question.

Gopi I was looking at GHMC documents and their SLA (service level agreement) for fixing potholes is 3 days!

Did you try filing a complaint on the GHMC website? I guess to ask about the SLA, we need to file a report on the issue at least.

srinivas Its a different game in Airlines compared to bus.
To encourage more no of passengers to take air travel(increase in volume business), they give half of the tickets for a cheaper price and that too for only those people who book the tickets in advance, and they charge normal fair for remaining tickets. so it is not very appropriate to say airways charge erratically(in india the occupancy levels in aircrafts was very less, less than 40%, so it made sense to give the tickets off at lesser price).

The airfares are regulated by civil aviation authority, all the airlines together have come to understanding to rule out unfair pricing and they are accountable to the users and have a grievance redressal system in place.

so before going any further if the sector has to develop and provide a safe and comfertable journy there should be a system set up where, the pricing are regulated(can fluctuate but limits needs to be set), bus operators are accountable and a regulatory body has to be set up. even the state run busses should come under the purview of the regulatory board.

Gopi I am not sure if we can call it a fraud. This seems to be more of variable pricing based on demand-supply. In airlines, this is the norm. So, on the face of it, it looks fine.

BTW, I faced this myself when I was travelling from bangalore to hyd on 9th (3 day weekend). Normally, the A/C volvo sleeper costs around 1000/- but on that day, it was increase to around 1800-2000/-. I did feel annoyed about this, but it felt like a normal commercial activity of variable pricing.

But yes, it will be good to know if there is any regulator authority for this
